The Star FM Listeners’ Choice Awards held over the weekend produced some of the shocking results on the music scene as Nutty O and Tamy Moyo won three awards apiece in categories that they would ordinarily not win anything for instance Nutty O won Best Male Artist and Song of the year a collabo with Poptain called Kokai.
Apparently, this is exactly the opposite of what happened with Zimbabwe Music Awards something which is a cause for concern that the same year there were two different Songs of the Year. Understandably, this is because Star FM Listeners’ Choice Awards are reflective of what sort of music is played on the station and not countrywide. All For Christ won two awards. But a pleasant surprise was the honour of Rozalla Miller who got the Lifetime Achievement Award. She was a hit in the 1990s with her breakaway hit song Everybody’s Free, a rave number. Nigel Nyangombe who has produced groups like Mahendere Brothers and Wenyasha also sprung a surprise by being voted Best Producer. The awards were held virtually and themed: “Respect the Hustle”.
