Afro-pop musician — CeeBlazer — says when he writes music he does not aim at making hits but delivering the message.
The talented 25-year-old singer has released over 70 songs to date without putting a single album out and says it is up to the fans to decide whether or not it is a hit.
“It is not about hits but the music. I just release music not aiming at a hit song that’s why I don’t have an album yet. Honestly I just deliver music and message. I have released more than 70 songs,” he said in an interview.
The Ukraine-based artist whose breakaway song was Zondo is riding on a crest of success with his latest video Angel.
The video shot on location in Ukraine has that international feel considering the visuals and the quality.
In the video CeeBlazer whose real name is Courage Dhuku glorifies the Zimbabwean women likening them to the beauty of an angel.
And of course, the choreography is also on point largely because CeeBlazer puts in a lot of work into his art and thanks to technology.
While the video is excellent, the song are easy to follow proving that a good song isn’t difficult to sing.
He sings both in English and Shona and most of his fans can relate since the majority of his followers are Zimbabweans.
And the Afro-beat will get you on the dance floor as CeeBlazer waxes lyrical making the love song all the more enjoyable.
He has continued the same quality he exhibited in other videos such as Zondo, Lele, African Girl and Murora which were well received on YouTube.
Ceeblazer is not a newbie on the scene, having previously recorded songs with Tocky Vibes and Stunner but the vibe has surely changed.
His first song was recorded in 2013 on October 28. He and Stunner dropped a collaboration called Jibilika and with Tocky Vibes he released Muzezuru.
The song Murora hit 200 000 views in two months before he pulling it off from YouTube because he had opened his own channel.
His follow up single was African Girl and then Lele. Both songs are doing well, but it was Zondo which opened doors for him.
It hit 80k views in 6 days after it is released so I think we are improving slowly but surely.”
Ceeblazer says he has not received much airplay in Zimbabwe but is soon to bridge that gap – and also run for the money spinning pay-TV on the continent.
The artiste, grew up in Harare. He is the first born in a family of two boys. He attended Marimba Park Primary School and proceeded to Rusununguko Secondary School in Bromley, Marondera, and to Oriel Oriel Boys High.
He says he started singing at the age of nine.
He currently lives in the town of Dnepropetrovsk, central Ukraine and a cultural hub, where he is studying and working.
CeeBlazer holds a Degree in International Cybernatics Economics with University Alfred Nobel in Ukraine. He also holds an Honours Degree in International Relations with University of Wales in London. Currently he is working on Masters in Finance and Business.
“I have a logistics company in Zimbabwe which I cannot disclose the name,” he said. Regarding his career in music, CeeBlazer said he has lined up more video and live performances.
