Zimbabwe’s gospel super group — The Vine featuring Everton Mlalazi have delivered yet another classic — Sewakhile.
The video recorded as part of The Vine’s 10th anniversary at the Harare International Conference Centre this year, serves as a perfect reminder that above everything else God is the Greatest.
The fact that The Vine celebrated 10 years of making music, uplifting souls, giving hope to the hopelessness for a decade is testimony enough that God works in more ways than one.
Sung both in Shona and English Sewakhile is a beautiful song that sets out to reach out to every soul and individual on a personal level.
Obviously, there is great combination of talents displayed by The Vine on one hand and Mlalazi on the other hand.
But the presentation on the video where it brough together the full Orchestra, the choir and the band worked magic from start to finish.
For those not in the long, Mlalazi’s journey in music began as a collective ministry before growing into a celebrated career marked by international acclaim, significant collaborations, and an enduring impact on the lives of many.
Mlalazi’s story is one of “faith, perseverance, and an unwavering commitment to uplifting others through music.”
In 2014, Everton Mlalazi founded The Vine Music Ministry, embarking on a mission to share the gospel through harmonious melodies and meaningful lyrics.
As the founding director, he guided the group in releasing two highly successful albums: “Musandipfuure” (2018) and “The Great Physician” (2022).
The latter proved to be a major breakthrough, propelling The Vine to international prominence. Their music, filled with messages of healing and hope, resonated deeply across Southern Africa and beyond, leading to a celebrated tour that began in September 2022 with a sold-out performance at the Sandton Convention Centre in South Africa.
Marking a significant milestone in 2023, The Vine celebrated its 10th anniversary, which included the recording of the ensemble’s third album, “Great is Thy Faithfulness (The Vine @10).”
The upcoming album, released in October 2024, “serves as a testament to the group’s decade-long journey of spreading the message of faith and resilience.”
