Praise and worship singer — Prince Mafukidze — who is on a sabbatical says fans will have to wait a year or two before he puts a new album out.
Pastor Prince or simply Mwana WaMambo was featured as a guest performer at Janet Manyowa’s album launch — Father’s House — over the weekend at 7 Arts Theatre.
Pastor Prince who once worked with Janet before said he was happy that the future of gospel music was in safe hands.
“Well, for some of us who came before you, music is like a relay you run your race and pass on the baton. And I am happy that the future of gospel is in safe hands because of people like you Janet who are taking it further,” he said before he performed It’s My Season.
Pastor Prince confirmed it was Janet’s season, however, he said he was readying an album in the coming few years.
“I don’t know maybe I will be releasing an album in one to two years to come,” he said.
He also performed another classic hits Chitsike sending the crowd into dance.
It was such a moving show with Pastor Prince from the second generation of gospel musicians endorsing Janet.
The fifth studio album — Father’s House — was launched before a packed 7 Arts Theatre in Avondale where among the guests were Dr Rebecca Chisamba, musicians Wenyasha, jazz sensation Dudu Manhenga, Minister Mahendere and Jah Prayzah.
From start to finish the audiences were serenaded in worship in true Janet’s style.
Her first performance featured the former Gweru-based outfit — Joyful Praise Choir — making use of the big stage.
Then the show peaked up when Dudu Manhenga featured in a jazz duet as Janet experiments with new sound.
So special was the performance because Janet sang before her loved ones including her parents.
